• About the Academy

  • Leadership & Advocacy

For music to inspire, it must reach the people who need its message most, including communities without access to live music; schools with shrinking music budgets; educators and policy makers who set arts priorities for the nation. The Academy provides Fellows with the tools they need to be messengers who share the power of music with these and other constituencies.

  • Leadership and advocacy can take many forms, among them:

    • • informing teachers about education and enrichment opportunities they may not know about
    • • helping a community leader or teacher apply for a grant
    • • working as a resource for Carnegie’s Hall’s government outreach department to garner more support for music education programs
    • • bringing concert music to settings where it is rarely if ever heard in live performance
