Found Sound Nation (Jeremy Thal and Chris
Marianetti), Digital Producers
Found Sound Nation (foundsoundnation.org) is a team of
composers, producers, and musicians who design and lead socially-engaged music
projects. In locations ranging from detention centers in the Bronx to
music festivals in Zimbabwe, Italy and Switzerland, Found Sound Nation draws
upon the expressive power of music, audio, and video production to give voice
to underrepresented communities, unlock the creative potential of youth, and
build bridges between communities separated by cultures, economic disparities,
and geography. FSN's work emphasizes a mobile, accessible and collaborative way
of recording and producing professional quality music, engaging with local
musicians and utilizing sounds found in different local environments.
Found Sound Nation was recently awarded a PopTech Social Innovations Fellowship
and received the One Beat grant from the US Department of State's Bureau for
Educational and Cultural Affairs to develop an international music exchange
program.
