The Diana H. Jones Senior Center, named in honor of a dedicated and loyal advocate of senior citizens, has a long history of serving the Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick communities. Operational since 1969, the center came under the sponsorship of the Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council in 1997 and seeks to promote the well-being of community residents who are 60+ years of age. Its programs are designed to improve the lives of senior citizens through the provision of concrete social services and advocacy; the promotion camaraderie and companionship; the provision of nutritional meals and health education; and social services such as recreational, educational, and cultural stimulation. It is funded by the New York City Department for the Aging and members contributions, and will be celebrating its 43rd anniversary in June 2012.
