The New York pops kicks off its 28th season at Carnegie Hall on October 16 playing the music of Swedish supergroup
ABBA. The highly popular series continues on November 19 celebrating the birthday and music of
Stephen Sondheim, followed on December 10 and 11 with the now customary Holiday concert. This
year, also on December 11, the orchestra will perform a Carnegie
Hall Family Concert, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! In 2011
long-time Tonight Show bandleader Doc Severinsen joins the Pops
for a concert of sizzling Latin music on January 28, while the final New York Pops concert of
the season on March 11 is a retelling of the iconic 1961 Judy
Garland at Carnegie Hall concert.
Carnegie Hall members will have the opportunity to watch free Open
Working Rehearsals for the October 15, The Music of Abba, and the November 19, Stephen Sondheim 80th Birthday Celebration.
