• Zankel Hall Goes Global

Beginning with the concert featuring Uruguayan singer and guitarist Jorge Drexler on Saturday, January 22, Zankel Hall will be transformed into a gateway to musical cultures as Late Nights at Zankel Hall goes global.

Before each performance—presented by Carnegie Hall in partnership with World Music Institute—concertgoers can mingle and chat with special guests from the focus-country, local artists, and Carnegie Hall staff; receive information about the culture; sample free local cuisine; and, as with all Late Nights at Zankel Hall, the first 200 audience-members to arrive receive a free drink on us!

During the remainder of the 2010–2011 season, these events feature singer Nassima from Algeria on February 25; Japanese shamisen duo Yutaka Oyama and Masahiro Nitta on March 25; and Cuban son exponents Septeto Nacional de Cuba on April 16.

Come along and have a drink, a chat, and a bite to eat, and learn about the fascinating cultures from which this wonderful and evocative music originates.
