The final participant in The Carnegie Hall Debut series—also
featuring tenor Nicholas Phan and pianist Jonathan Biss—is 2010 Gramophone
Artist of the Year, mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato.
Ms. DiDonato—who has performed at Carnegie Hall half a dozen times
since her first appearance in 2003—makes her solo recital debut in Stern
Auditorium / Perelman Stage, accompanied by pianist David Zobel, on the
afternoon of March
6, 2011.
In the first of a video series, "The Yankee Diva" recently took time
out from rehearsals for her role as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier
at Teatro Real in Madrid to speak to the Carnegie Hall audience about
her emotions on making her solo vocal recital debut in the "big hall"
and explaining her hopes for the journey she will make with us to the
Carnegie Hall stage on March
6.
