Last December, Leif Ove Andsnes, Lars Anders Tomter, Measha Brueggergosman, and many more artists from the 2010 Risør Chamber Music Festival lineup visited New York for four concerts at Carnegie Hall. The 2011 festival opens today in Norway.
Our friends at Music in Motion—who supplied us with multiple high-quality performance videos from Risør 2010 to post on our website and YouTube channel—will film many of the concerts again this summer.
Two of the concerts will be broadcast in Norwegian movie theaters but for those of us who can't make it to Scandinavia, the concerts will be available to stream or download at musicinmotion.no/risor beginning July 4. Carnegie Hall subscribers who enjoyed the video concerts last summer will be able to stream the concerts free of charge. New viewers can stream or download videos for a range of prices—visit risor.musicinmotion.no from July 4 for details.
The Carnegie Hall connection with Risør continues in 2012, when former artistic director Leif Ove Andsnes returns for a solo recital on February 15—playing Haydn, Bartók, Debussy, and Chopin—and with baritone Matthias Goerne on May 1 for the same program of Mahler and Shostakovich songs they perform this week at the festival in Norway.
