• Schiff and Fischer: Old Friends Play Bartók

Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra are in town later this week for two concerts as part of Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart festival. They return to Carnegie Hall for two nights in late October to join András Schiff—Fischer's long-time friend and collaborator—for the beginning of his extensive Perspectives series.

In keeping with his desire to focus on the music of his countryman Béla Bartók, Schiff performs all three of the Hungarian composer's piano concertos over two nights. On October 28, he joins the Budapest Festival Orchestra for Bartók's Piano Concertos nos. 1 and 3, while on October 29, they perform No. 2. Each program also includes a Schubert symphony.
