Neighborhood Concert: The Miguel Zenón Quartet

Harlem Stage Gatehouse
In his latest project “Alma Adentro: The Puerto Rican Songbook,” jazz saxophonist Miguel Zenón reinterprets cherished songs by five legendary songwriters from his country: Rafael Hernandez, Pedro Flores, Silvia Rexach, Bobby Capó, and Tite Curet Alonso. With a distinctive approach to the melodies, a trademark explosive drive, and imaginative improvisations, this MacArthur Genius Grant recipient creates a mood that reflects his personal connection to these Puerto Rican classics, music he has known since childhood.
