Neighborhood Concert: Hazmat Modine

Brooklyn Museum
Hazmat Modine’s music is a glittering collage of colorful styles: The group dips into bluesy roots and old-school jazz, mixes in Caribbean calypso and ska, and splashes the canvas with Eastern European klezmer and Balkan brass. The result is something unidentifiable but inexplicably familiar and authentic. The band is driven by a pair of dueling harmonicas, backed by tuba, drums, guitars, and a horn section. The main impression that you’ll get from the performance is genuine, uncontainable joy from every musician.
