Renee Rosnes
Canadian-born Renee Rosnes began classical piano studies at age 3 and was introduced to
jazz music during high school. Shortly after relocating from Vancouver to New York in 1986,
Rosnes quickly established a reputation as a major talent. She has been the pianist of
choice for such legendary musicians as Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, J. J. Johnson, James
Moody, Ron Carter, and Bobby Hutcherson, and was a charter member of the SFJAZZ Collective.
Rosnes has recorded 12 albums as a leader, four of which have garnered Juno Awards, the
Canadian equivalent of a Grammy. She is also a prolific composer and was also named
Composer of the Year in 2003 by the Society of Composer's, Authors, and Music Publishers of
Canada.
