Neighborhood Concert: Canada Day

LaGuardia Performing Arts Center
Bandleader and drummer of Canada Day Harris Eisenstadt is a different kind of jazz composer. With an eclectic background ranging from theater and poetry to dance and opera, Eisenstadt brings a unique energy to his jazz ensemble that has critics sitting up and listening. The New York Times has described Canada Day as “extracting consonance from dissonance or forging ungainliness into grace,” and the group is cutting a path along jazz’s progressive fringe to create a new and vital brand of improvisation. Their next album Canada Day Octet is set to release this spring.
