Neighborhood Concert: Son de Madre
The Bronx Museum of the Arts
Sizzling Latin band Son de Madre fires up the stage with its spicy Cuban music. When asked to describe their sound, they reply, “Imagine having a big dessert with all your favorite flavors. That’s how I’d describe our music—a great combination of son, salsa, timba, cha cha, bolero, funk, ballad, and more.” The mélange of styles results from the group’s multicultural make-up, with members from Cuba, Argentina, Israel, Puerto Rico, and the US. Son de Madre has performed in all the hottest clubs in town with all-star artists like Celia Cruz, Paquito D’Rivera, and Victor Manuel.
As part of the Bronx Museum’s First Friday! series, free museum tours will be provided from 6–7 PM, and drinks and refreshments will be served throughout the evening.
