Neighborhood Concert: Lionel Loueke Trio

Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture
Originally from the West African nation of Benin, Lionel Loueke harnesses his deep knowledge of African music to create a heartfelt, evocative sound that features harmonic complexity and original guitar techniques. Praised by his mentor Herbie Hancock as a “musical painter,” Loueke draws you in with his husky baritone, tender falsetto, and fresh, energetic sound.
