Apollo Chamber Players

Basque and Slavic Folkscapes

Weill Recital Hall
Join the Apollo Chamber Players for a program exploring the connections between European classical composers and the folk music from which they drew inspiration. This concert features original string quartet arrangements of folk melodies from the Basque and Slavic regions as a stylistic and interpretive bridge to seminal works by Ravel, Lutosławski, and Janáček. The world premiere of a commissioned work by Karim Al-Zand, inspired by Bulgarian folk rhythms, illuminates folk music as a timeless muse.
