Benjamin Zander and the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

The Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, conducted by Benjamin Zander, performs four works from different musical styles and countries. The orchestra performs Verdi's bracing and dynamic overture to La forza del destino and excerpts from The Garden of Cosmic Speculation, an ongoing project by Boston composer Michael Gandolfi. Pianist Christopher O’Riley, host of the show From the Top, performs Ravel’s subtle and refined Piano Concerto in G Major. The program ends with Shostakovich’s expansive Symphony No. 5.
