Neighborhood Concert: Alison King and Carrie-Ann Matheson
Advent Lutheran Church
Rising star Alison King, a protégée of the illustrious Marilyn Horne, is making her mark on the New York opera scene this year. Last year alone, the soprano received a coveted spot in Carnegie Hall’s The Song Continues master class series with Kurt Moll, and received an honorable mention at the famed Marilyn Horne Song Competition at Music Academy of the West. You will be captivated by her voice which soars elegantly and decoratively among the highest of notes.
Pianist Carrie-Ann Matheson's playing has been called “stylish,” “insightful,” and “admirable” by The New York Times. An assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera, Matheson has assisted renowned conductors James Levine and Daniel Barenboim, and collaborated in recital with some of the world’s most prominent artists, including Susan Graham, Joyce DiDonato, and Marilyn Horne.
