Conductor Leonard Slatkin leads an enlightening and light-hearted exploration of Charles Ives's Symphony No. 4. He also describes Ives's importance in the development of American music, revealing that he, himself, attended the world premiere of the complete symphony at Carnegie Hall in a performance by Leopold Stokowski and the American Symphony Orchestra on April 26, 1965.
