Mimesis Ensemble

Weill Recital Hall
The Mimesis Ensemble presents an evening of works by five living composers. At the beginning of the concert, the composers will participate in a dialogue about their works. Nico Muhly’s piece Motion seeks to capture the nervous energy of obsessive counting. Second on the program is Huang Ruo’s haunting Elegy: Sounds Ever Slow... David Ludwig’s Our Long War is a setting of a poem by Katie Ford, and the poet will read her work prior to the performance. Paola Prestini’s Spell conjures the spell-like sense of waiting and anticipation during a love spell. Mohammed Fairouz’s string quartet The Named Angels evokes four angels from the Islamic, Christian, and Jewish traditions.
