Neighborhood Concert: Cyrille Aimée

Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College
As a child growing up in rural France, jazz singer Cyrille Aimée was captivated by the music of gypsies and would sneak out of her house to join them in song. Gypsy swing is only one part of the spunky, bright-toned French-Dominican songstress’s repertoire, which now includes Brazilian songs and classic jazz standards. A winner of the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, The Wall Street Journal has called Aimée “one of the most promising jazz singers of her generation.”
