A full-year curriculum for music classrooms, exploring rhythm, pulse, and groove, drawing on selected orchestral repertoire. Culminates with students performing at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium or at a local hall.
Designed to build musical skills (critical listening, singing, playing instruments, reading musical notation) and to engage students in composition and improvisation. Composer Thomas Cabaniss is our guide. Materials include hands-on activities plus music for voice and recorder, with optional string extensions. Includes connections with the classroom curriculum (analyzing, making comparisons, and reflecting) and with students' personal experiences.
