I work with a choir of youth voices on a regular basis, but am not certified in Choral Music Education. May I apply?

Absolutely! Our hope is that we will have a mix of trained choral musicians who are in need of artistic rejuvenation, as well as those who are not trained in choral music. We encourage applications from individuals who are instrumentalists and have found themselves also teaching choir, or from professional singers who have found second careers as teachers.

I have participated in BYC’s Cross-Choral Training Workshops in the past. Am I still eligible for this program?

Yes! This program builds on the success that Dianne Berkun has had with her Cross-Choral Training Workshops by providing a year-long opportunity to engage with the material and participate in a community of learners.

I teach choir but am not a singer myself. see that there are choir rehearsals where we sing with major New York City choirs and also a short voice lesson. Will I be in over my head?

Our goal is to make this program accessible for teachers at all levels of experience and skill. The voice lesson will be individually tailored to your needs so there is no need to be apprehensive.
