• National High School Choral Festival

    The 2012–2013 National High School Choral Festival unites top high school choruses from around the country for a one-of-a-kind, yearlong program guided by leading choral director Kent Tritle and world renowned conductor John Nelson. As a finale, participating choruses perform Mozart’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall with Mr. Nelson, professional soloists, and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s on April 20, 2013.

    • • No participation fee.
    • • Choruses prepare Mozart’s Requiem for the final performance in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.
    • • Each chorus also performs 10 minutes of its own repertoire under the direction of its conductor at Carnegie Hall.
    • • Carnegie Hall brings each participating choral director to a professional development weekend.
    • • Choral preparer visits each high school for a full day of rehearsals.
    • • Combined choruses rehearse for three days in New York City prior to the final concerts, in which they perform with Orchestra of St. Luke’s under the baton of Mr. Nelson.
    • • These are the only high school choruses presented at Carnegie Hall by Carnegie Hall.
