James Levine Master Class: The Song Continues…
Carnegie Hall celebrated the art of classical song
with world-renowned mezzo soprano Marilyn Horne in a four-day festival
titled The Song Continues…
The annual festival, presented by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music
Institute as part of the Professional Training Workshop series, featured
six public events, three recitals and three master classes.
On January 19, 2010, American pianist and conductor James Levine led
a master class in Zankel Hall. In the following excerpts from this
master class, Mr. Levine coaches young singers on:
- choosing repertoire
- interpreting and personally connecting with the text
- bringing their personal artistry to the forefront
