Carnegie Hall today announced a program update for the recital by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Emanuel Ax scheduled for Sunday, February 23 at 2:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The duo will add a third Brahms cello sonata to the program—Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 1 in G Major (transcribed to D Major for cello)—replacing the previously announced New York premiere of The MAXDuo by Anders Hillborg. The premiere of this new work has been postponed to a future date due to preparation time constraints. The other works on the program remain as previously announced.

This February 23 recital, part of Emanuel Ax’s three-concert retrospective this season featuring the music of Brahms, is also the first annual Isaac Stern Memorial Concert at Carnegie Hall. The performance will air on WQXR 105.9 FM in New York and on stations nationwide as part of the Carnegie Hall Live broadcast and digital series, produced by WQXR and Carnegie Hall in collaboration with American Public Media.
