JapanNYC kicked off at Carnegie Hall on December 14 with Artistic Director Seiji Ozawa leading the orchestra he co-founded in 1984 to honor his mentor, Hideo Saito. As Maestro Ozawa continues to recover from a sciatic condition, Tatsuya Shimono conducted the US Premiere of Atsuhiko Gondai's Decathexis and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, while Maestro Ozawa conducted Brahms's mighty Symphony No. 1.
