Musical Theater at Carnegie Hall
1
of
On Tuesday, June 10, 2008, Carnegie Hall in association with The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization proudly presented Show Boat, the epic American musical masterpiece of Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II. The evening started with cocktails in the atrium of Remi Restaurant, followed by a festive buffet dinner. Guests then proceeded to Carnegie Hall for the unforgettable concert performance of Show Boat. Under the direction of Francesca Zambello, together with an orchestra and chorus led by Paul Gemignani, music lovers were delighted with such great songs as “Make Believe,” “Ol’ Man River,” “Bill,” “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man,” and “Life Upon the Wicked Stage,” performed by favorite stars from across the worlds of Broadway, Hollywood, and opera. Show Boat followed in the footsteps of previous landmark musical concert benefit performances at Carnegie Hall, including South Pacific and Carousel.
