On May 5, 2011, Carnegie Hall celebrated its anniversary exactly 120 years to the day after it first opened its doors in 1891. Chaired by Trustee Mercedes Bass, this star-studded event began with a concert by the New York Philharmonic, featuring Gil Shaham and trustee artists Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax, and Audra McDonald. Following the concert, guests “tripped the light fantastic” with Peter Duchin and his orchestra at an elegant Dinner-Dance at The Plaza Hotel.
