• The Song Continues:
    Paris Residency

A program of recitals and master classes for singers presented by Carnegie Hall in partnership with the Edmond de Rothschild Foundations

    November 29–December 6, 2014

Carnegie Hall is pleased to announce an additional residency as an extension of The Song Continues, in partnership with the Edmond de Rothschild Foundations. Six singers ages 18–35 will be selected to participate in a weeklong series of private master classes led by iconic mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne and collaborative pianist Martin Katz in Paris, France. The classes and coaching sessions will be held at the Opéra Bastille, leading up to a culminating salon concert for an invited audience at the Musée Jacquemart-André on December 4. An additional recital will be offered for a student audience at the Opéra Bastille Studio on December 5.

    Application Deadline: August 1, 2014

Invited candidates will be notified no later than September 15, 2014.

  • Application Requirements

In addition to a completed online form, all applicants must submit a short biography (100-word maximum), a current headshot, a one-page resume, two letters of recommendation, and an audition video. The audition video (audio-only files are not accepted) should include unedited performances of two songs (no arias, musical theater selections, or popular songs) in contrasting style and language.

All materials are submitted electronically through DecisionDesk, a service that provides a digital audition platform to many performing arts schools and programs. As part of the application, you will be asked to enter e-mail addresses for your recommenders—two are required and a third is optional. They will receive a link to an online recommendation form after you submit your completed application. Please note that this e-mail will be sent directly from DecisionDesk (not Carnegie Hall). Your references will have until August 15 to complete and submit their confidential recommendations.

    Application Fee

There is no fee for this application.

    Practical Information

Carnegie Hall will arrange and provide round-trip transportation and hotel accommodations for participants in this residency. If accepted, you must be available for the full duration of the program as outlined above, November 29 to December 6, which includes travel days.
