    Chamber music is an intimate form of musical expression between small groups of musicians and the audience, and solo recitals put you up close to some of the best musicians in the world. Carnegie Hall has a number of subscriptions dedicated to each.

    • International Festival of Orchestras I 2012-2013
      Discover outstanding orchestras that are steeped in tradition, yet continue to challenge the way audiences listen to music today. The Mariinsky, Royal Concertgebouw, and Vienna Philharmonic orchestras have all cultivated classical music for more than two centuries, while the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra is forging new pathways to peace with its fearless group of superb Arab and Israeli musicians dedicated to making great music in the face of conflict.
    • International Festival of Orchestras II 2012-2013
      From Vienna to Venezuela, England to the Middle East, these inspired ensembles perform enduring scores that span nearly three centuries. The Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra chart a course through the masterworks of Beethoven, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra pays homage to fellow countrymen Berg and Bruckner, and Gustavo Dudamel draws inspired playing from the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra.

      Esteemed ensembles perform orchestral favorites in supercharged performances from the symphonic and operatic repertoire. Franz Welser-Möst leads the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra through works by Strauss and Schubert, the Staatskapelle Dresden tackles Bruckner's Symphony No. 8, and legendary conductor Valery Gergiev celebrates the centenary of Sir Georg Solti with a special program devoted to Solti's legacy.

      The leading instrumentalists of our time interpret the classical repertoire in traditional and unique programs that showcase their virtuosic techniques and signature styles. Leonidas Kavakos with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Yuja Wang with the San Francisco Symphony, and Garrick Ohlsson with the Boston Symphony Orchestra bring to light quintessential works by Bartók, Beethoven, and Rachmaninoff.

      Young masters join legendary maestro Riccardo Muti in a series that delves into the vast canon of symphonic works. These astonishing evenings of music feature influential works by Mahler, Mussorgsky, and Dvořák, paired with premieres of new commissions that include Osvaldo Golijov's highly anticipated Violin Concerto and a new work by Anders Hillborg written for the incomparable soprano Renée Fleming.
    • Great American Orchestras II 2012-2013
      Renowned American orchestras perform electrifying concerts under the batons of acclaimed conductors in performances of indelible music. The Chicago Symphony and Boston Symphony orchestras illuminate Wagner's operatic works, The Cleveland Orchestra pairs Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 with a work by one of the Russian masters, and Michael Tilson Thomas leads the San Francisco Symphony through Mahler's moving Ninth Symphony.
    • Weekends at Carnegie Hall 2012-2013
      Spend the weekend with some of today's most esteemed ensembles as they survey the monumental works of Beethoven, including his "Pastoral" and "Choral" symphonies. Also on the series, operatic powerhouse David Daniels joins The English Concert for a performance of a Baroque opera rarity, Handel's Radamisto, exploring the power of fidelity in marriage.

      This popular series celebrates the continuum of extraordinary musical interpreters. World-class Arab and Israeli musicians unite to perform two Beethoven symphonies, Renée Fleming stars as Blanche DuBois in a semi-staged performance of André Previn’s A Streetcar Named Desire, and the compelling violinist Lisa Batiashvili performs Brahms’s Violin Concerto with the revered Staatskapelle Dresden.
    • The Philadelphia Orchestra 2012-2013
      Fiery young conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin makes his New York debut at the helm of The Philadelphia Orchestra in Verdi’s towering Requiem, as well as 20th century works by Ravel, Stravinsky, and a new work by Oliver Knussen. Sir Simon Rattle also takes the podium for an intriguing concert that pairs the timeless eloquence of Beethoven with the gripping music of Berg and the fascinating whimsy of Ligeti.
    • Orchestra of St. Luke's 2012-2013
      The Orchestra of St. Luke’s welcomes its new Principal Conductor Pablo Heras-Casado in a series that also includes the incomparable pianist Christian Zacharias performing Chopin, Bach’s moving St. Matthew Passion, and a Haydn cello concerto with the astounding Alisa Weilerstein.
