This concert engages your mind, as well as your ears and your heart. Both Bartók and Lutosławski can be at once folk-like and modern in their music, an apparent contradiction that they easily resolve. Ravel similarly joins sophisticated elegance with childlike pleasure. And Webern illuminates Bach, creating music lit from within by a magical light.
