Around the Globe
A familial musical melting pot of second-generation greats comes together this season at Carnegie Hall, including the “finger-blurring” violin virtuoso Roby Lakatos, of the legendary Roma musical family (Los Angeles Times); Estrella Morente— daughter of the Spanish flamenco giant Enrique Morente—whose audiences hover outside to catch a note of her splendor; and Zakir Hussain, himself the son of a leading tabla player from India. Música criolla diva Eva Ayllón, Peru’s “foremost star” (The Houston Chronicle), and the “award-winning clarinet virtuoso” and klezmer king David Krakauer (Seattle Times) are also part of this musical journey.
