Inspired by her first trip to her ancestral home of Armenia, Isabel Bayrakdarian celebrates the music of Gomidas Vartabed (1869–1935), Armenia’s national composer. Ms. Bayrakdarian, singing these long-lost Gomidas songs in the original Armenian, amplifies the losses of a people whose culture was nearly destroyed, but also celebrates their joys.
