The Orchestra Rocks!

2009–2010 Season Information

Thanks to everyone who expressed an interest in this program, applications are now closed. Application details for 2010–2011 will be posted in spring 2010.

Celebrate the 25th season of LinkUP! with The Orchestra Rocks! for students in grades three through five. Through hands-on classroom learning and the fully interactive concert, students join a collective community of performers and creators as they explore time, rhythm, and groove in a range of exciting orchestral music. Printed curriculum materials approach repertoire experientially through the composer's lens, incorporating skills-based work, creative work, and performing selections on recorder, violin, voice, and body percussion.

Program Features
  • One required Professional Development Workshop per year (full details here ›)
  • LinkUP!: The Orchestra Rocks!, a printed concert repertoire curriculum guide with lesson plans and accompanying audio resources for teachers
  • Soprano recorder and LinkUP!: The Orchestra Rocks! workbook for each student
  • One LinkUP!: The Orchestra Rocks! interactive culminating concert in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with a professional orchestra, conductor, and LinkUP! students from the tri-state area
  • NEW! Resources and ideas for string teachers woven throughout the printed LinkUP!: The Orchestra Rocks! curriculum
  • NEW! LinkUP! Beginnings, a downloadable curriculum guide that introduces the orchestra, music notation, and basic recorder skills with accompanying audio resources

$6 per student / $30 per teacher

One chaperone per 10 students included free of charge.

Additional adults are $6 each.
