Founded in 1990 by the late Robert Shaw, the Carnegie Hall Choral Workshop gathers choral singers to prepare and perform great masterworks. In this workshop, a choir of 80 singers will explore Haydn's Die Schöpfung (The Creation) with German conductor Helmuth Rilling and choral preparer Kathy Saltzman Romey. For more information about the workshop faculty, please click on their images above. The workshop includes five days of intensive rehearsals and will culminate in a Carnegie Hall performance of The Creation with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, and soloists Susan Gritton, James Taylor, and Nathan Berg.

NEW!! This workshop also features the Recitative and Aria Master Classes which will give up to six conductors and up to six singers the opportunity to work on selected recitatives and arias from The Creation. Singers chosen for this track will first participate in a master class with James Taylor, followed by a master class for conductors with Helmuth Rilling on the same recitatives and arias.

Choral professionals—conductors and singers—aged 18 and older are encouraged to apply to this workshop and will be selected by a competitive application process. The Recitative and Aria Master Classes are open to singers and conductors also applying to participate in the choir, as well as to those conductors interested in auditing the workshop.
