PIANIST TILL FELLNER PERFORMS IN RECITAL
ON TUESDAY, MAY 6 AT 7:30 P.M. IN ZANKEL HALL

Program Includes Works by Mozart, Schumann, Adès, and Ravel
On Tuesday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m., pianist Till Fellner returns to Carnegie Hall to appear in recital in Zankel Hall, performing Mozart’s Rondo in A Minor, K. 511; Schumann’s Fantasy in C Major, Op. 17; Adès’s Darknesse Visible; and Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit. Mr. Fellner last appeared in Zankel Hall in 2004 and The New York Times review of the performance described his playing as “articulate, lithe and beautifully lyrical,” stating that Mr. Fellner is “among the most probing and resourceful pianists of his generation.”

Born in Vienna, Till Fellner studied with Helene Sedo-Stadler before going on to study with Alfred Brendel, Meira Farkas, Oleg Maisenberg, and Claus-Christian Schuster. Mr. Fellner first gained international recognition when he won first prize at the prestigious Clara Haskil International Competition in 1993. Since then, he has performed with many of the world’s most prestigious orchestras and has appeared in major concert halls and festivals in Europe, the United States, and Japan. He has worked with many leading conductors, including Claudio Abbado, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Christoph von Dohnányi, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Leonard Slatkin, and Franz Welser-Möst, among others. As a chamber musician, Mr. Fellner regularly collaborates with Heinrich Schiff, Mark Padmore, and in a trio with Lisa Batiashvili and Adrian Brendel.

Last season, Mr. Fellner performed in Montréal, Paris, Munich, London, Vienna, and Budapest under the baton of conductors, including Sir Neville Marriner, Kent Nagano, Sylvain Cambreling, Philippe Jordan, and Zoltán Kocsis. Additional highlights included a duo recital tour with Heinrich Schiff and solo recitals in Europe, North America, and Asia. During the 2007–2008 season, Mr. Fellner performs with the Orchestre National de France, the Philharmonia Orchestra London, and the Munich Philharmonic. In spring 2008, Mr. Fellner embarks on a long-term project performing and recording the complete Beethoven piano concertos with Kent Nagano and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. In fall 2008, he begins a series of recitals in which he will perform the complete Beethoven piano sonatas in a cycle that spans seven concerts over the course of two seasons. The complete cycle will be presented in New York, Tokyo, London, Paris, and Vienna, among other cities. Mr. Fellner’s extensive discography includes his most recent release for ECM Records, Bach’s The Well-Tempered Klavier, Book I.
