The Emerson String Quartet joins Beethoven biographer Edmund Morris and host Ara Guzelimian for a lively exploration of Beethoven’s string quartets and their central place in the repertoire with performances, talks, and demonstration.

Three Classical quartets in the key of C major—“The Bird” Quartet by Haydn, the “Dissonance” Quartet by Mozart, and Beethoven’s own Op. 59, No. 3

Beethoven’s first set of quartets—all six of them—presented in a double concert, with a dinner break in between

Quartets by Mendelssohn and Schubert in which the composers quote from their own songs, and a Beethoven quartet that boasts a “Russian” theme—by Beethoven himself!
