On Thursday, April 30, 2009, guests gathered in the Rainbow Room for a lively afternoon luncheon that benefited the music education and community initiatives of The Weill Music Institute (WMI) at Carnegie Hall. The Discovering Music Luncheon serves as a forum in which to broaden support for WMI programs while providing an unparalleled opportunity for audiences of all ages and backgrounds to experience music, which is critical to ensuring the vitality of Carnegie Hall in years to come.
Highlights of the Luncheon included an inspiring performance by the student choir Songs of Solomon and a riveting interview of renowned opera singer Jessye Norman by host Paula Zahn. The Perelman American Roots program celebrated at the event is made possible by generous funding from the Ronald O. Perelman Music Endowment Fund.
