Managing Editor

Assistant Editorial Director
MEMCS
We seek a Managing Editor who will oversee and participate in the editing of all Playbill program materials for Carnegie Hall presentations, including program notes and feature articles highlighting artists and events; program inserts; librettos; large-print programs; and open-rehearsal programs. The Managing Editor is responsible for maintaining Carnegie Hall style and updating the in-house style guide as necessary. The Managing Editor provides substantial proofreading and copyediting support for marketing collateral and materials from other departments. Administrative assistance, including management of the editorial group’s accounts payable, database of writers, and program schedule, is also required. The Managing Editor reports to the Assistant Editorial Director.
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree with strong organizational and project management skills required. Excellent writing, copy-editing and proofreading skills. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Quark. A background in music—particularly, but not limited to, classical music—is desirable.
Marketing Manager

We seek a Marketing Manager who under the supervision of the Associate Director of Marketing will function as the marketing liaison with other departments and areas within CHC, specifically CarnegieCharge and the Box Office, keeping them advised of upcoming promotions. The Marketing Manager should assist the Associate Director when needed in the implementation of value-added events or promotions for CH subscribers. He/she will also provide support and/or back up when needed for the Interactive Services Department’s Copy Writer & Content Manager in the writing and circulation of copy for radio spots, print ads and eblasts. In conjunction with Ticketing Services and IT is responsible for the creation and maintenance of a database which contains prices/sales histories for both specific concerts as well as concert packages. Will be responsible for analysis of current and historical sales data for specific projects. Other duties include the updating and maintenance of Carnegie’s MySpace account. The Marketing Manager will be the contact for all Rental clients in the review of Rental 3-sheets, making certain that all CHC guidelines are met as well as being liaison with HMO to handle similar issues and scheduling regarding Rental clients inserts to program books.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with experience in arts marketing or related business. Strong writing and analytical skills required. Strong organization skills including attention to detail and follow-up skills on multiple items. Ability to work effectively and contribute ideas as a member of the marketing team. Able to cover concert duty at least once a month.

Part-time CarnegieCharge Rep needed for our ticketing department. Very strong customer service skills required. Interaction with customers includes, but is not limited to: single ticket sales, subscription series sales, contributions, workshop registration, gift shop merchandise sales and inquiries for information on Carnegie Hall. Also some supportive administrative work. Candidate must be computer literate. Knowledge of performing arts helpful. Team player with strong interpersonal skills. Able to work flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
WMI Interns
Weill Music Institute
WMI Managers
The Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall seeks interns for the summer/fall. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist with general office administration for programs of the Weill Music Institute—organization of mailings and collating curriculum, materials, and information for schools, and other duties as directed. Research future partners and target marketing groups. Arrange travel, hotel and materials for artists and WMI staff. Monitor all general e-mail inboxes. Respond directly to correspondent when appropriate. Redirect mail to the correct staff member as required. Attend weekday school concerts and teacher workshops and assist as needed with set-up, distribution of materials, check-in, etc. Assist in assembly of workshop materials prior to event. Assist with registration process, including data entry, payment processing, and confirmation mailings.
Special skills required: Intern must be detail-oriented, have the ability to multi-task, have strong organizational skills, and be self-motivated. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and database management are required. Previous experience in arts administration and knowledge of music strongly preferred; concert production experience is highly desirable. Ability to work occasional late nights or weekends.

Carnegie Hall seeks interns for Summer/Fall to assist the development department with daily operations including drafting correspondence, prospect research, administrative tasks, and full involvement in and exposure to fundraising at major performing arts institution, with tasks specific to area of focus: Special Events, Individual Giving, Government and Corporate Sponsorship
Activities include:
- Assist with data management. This includes web-based and telephone research of to identify and update contact information; maintaining the prospect management system for focus area; and other miscellaneous tasks
- Assist with special event planning and implementation.
- Administrative office duties such mailing, faxing, filing, etc.
- Assist in grant writing and program development as needed
- Assist in prospect research and cultivation
- Assist with general Departmental projects as needed including Phone duty.
Candidates considering a career in fundraising and/or arts administration are encouraged to apply. Must be able to commit to twenty hours per week. Applicants must have strong writing skills, computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel, and excellent communication and organization skills. A meal and transportation stipend is offered.
