"The festival is a tribute to the whole story of a style of music. It’s all about identity. You evolve in different directions, and then there are the roots. A man returns to his roots. It’s something American, something Cuban. The result is the history of the music and history of Cuba.”—Chucho Valdés"
Widely regarded as the greatest Latin jazz musician of our time, pianist and bandleader Chucho Valdés is a hugely important figure in both his native Cuba and around the world. At Carnegie Hall, Valdés pays homage to Afro-Cuban jazz and its worldwide influence in performances that feature an all-star four-piano concert, young Cuban jazz musicians, his own quintet, and traditional Afro-Cuban music.
