We started the day with a workshop at the State Uzbek Conservatory. Here we heard a talented young group play a Haydn string quartet. It was fun coaching them, and most of the time we didn't even need a translator.

After lunch at an inexpensive but good cafeteria, Michelle and I saw a lady with her cello waiting for the bus, and we struck up a conversation with her. As Dima was still in the cafeteria, it was brief but friendly, and she was sorry not to be able to make it to our concert.
That evening's performance at the DCM's residence was outside, and the weather that evening was pretty cold. The highlight for me was hearing the Uzbek folk group, Sogdiana, who also played that evening. It was pretty cool that they wanted to learn Orange Blossom Special, one of our encores that night. I think we will probably end up just giving them our music before we leave.
