More Information:

Bartók's 1917 ballet is a sweeping drama poised on the edge between late-Romantic and modern music. In a completely different direction, Schoenberg conceived his 1909 one-person opera to illustrate, “in slow motion, everything that occurs during a single second of maximum spiritual excitement.”
