CARNEGIE HALL PRESENTS
Vladimir Feltsman

Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage
Monday, April 6th, 2009 at 8:00 PM

“expressively shaped and thoughtfully ornamented performances”—New York Times

“Clearly one of the supreme Bach keyboard exponents of our time” (Chicago Tribune), Vladimir Feltsman opens the program with Bach’s lively Partita No. 1. One of Beethoven’s most popular pieces, the Op. 13 sonata was subtitled “Pathétique” by its publisher for its explosive and tragic nature. Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition is a virtuosic musical tableau for piano, depicting everything from the play of newly hatched chicks to the grandeur of Kiev’s great gates.

Vladimir Feltsman, Piano

BACH Partita No. 1 in B-flat Major, BWV 825
