This Professional Training Workshop, in partnership with The Bard College Conservatory of Music, commissioned eight young composers to write new vocal works for 18 singers. Composer Osvaldo Golijov and soprano Dawn Upshaw have been mentoring composers and singers through the collaborative compositional process, from conception of the music in October 2008 to the performances on May 9 and 10.

Professional Training Workshops are made possible, in part, by Mr. and Mrs. Nicola Bulgari and the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation.

Carnegie Hall commissions in the 2008-2009 season are made possible, in part, by a generous grant from the New York State Music Fund, established by the New York State Attorney General at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
