Meet the Artists

Sharon Katz and The Peace Train
South African singer, guitarist, and composer Sharon Katz founded the Peace Train Project in 1992 in an effort to unite people of all different races in South Africa following the end of apartheid. Influenced by South African jazz legends such as Miriam Makeba and Dolly Rathebe, as well as by the American protest music of Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger, the band has traveled across North America and South Africa sharing its blend of Afro jazz , funk, folk, and rock, as well as various South African styles.
