The performance will also be simulcast on WNYC-FM (93.9 FM) and on wnyc.org. WQXR has presented live broadcasts from Carnegie Hall since 1936. This concert will mark the final live broadcast by WQXR on 96.3 FM. As previously announced, WNYC Radio is acquiring WQXR, and will launch the station at its new frequency at 105.9 FM on October 8, also live from Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra’s October 1 program will include the New York premiere of John Williams’ On Willows and Birches, for harp and orchestra, with BSO principal harpist Ann Hobson Pilot as featured soloist. The BSO commissioned this piece from Mr. Williams to honor Ms. Hobson Pilot who retired this summer after a 40-year career with the orchestra. Also on the program is Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor with pianist Evgeny Kissin—as a prelude to the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth in 2010—as well as Berlioz’s Le Carnaval romain and Debussy’s La mer.
