MEZZO-SOPRANO OLGA BORODINA WILL REPLACE
MEZZO-SOPRANO MAGDALENA KOŽENÁ IN FEBRUARY 25 RECITAL
NEW YORK, NY, October 19, 2009—Carnegie Hall today announced that mezzo-soprano Olga Borodina will replace mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. For this recital, Ms. Borodina will be accompanied by pianist Dmitri Yefimov. It is with regret that Ms. Kožená has had to cancel her tour with Yefim Bronfman for personal reasons. The program for Ms. Borodina’s recital will be announced at a later date.
In 1992 soprano Olga Borodina made her highly acclaimed European debut in London at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, sharing the stage with Placido Domingo in Samson and Delilah. These performances launched her international career, and she has since performed regularly at many of the major opera houses around the world. In February 2009 Ms. Borodina performed with Placido Domingo in Adriana Lecouvreur at the Metropolitan Opera. During the 2008–2009 season, she performed Verdi’s Requiem with Riccardo Muti and the Orchestre National de France in Paris, La Damnation de Faust in Vienna and Madrid, as well as recitals in Lisbon and Milan. Ms. Borodina was awarded People's Artist of Russia in 2002 and is the recipient of the State Prize of Russia.
All tickets to the originally announced February 25 concert will be honored. For further information, ticketholders may contact CarnegieCharge at 212-247-7800.
