Citi Global Encounters
Music of Turkey: Cultural Crossroads

Learn more about the Citi Global Encounters program by joining us for our benefit luncheon, which will feature the work of the participating students and teachers. This year, the Citi Global Encounters program has partnered eight New York City high school classrooms with eight classrooms in Istanbul in a year-long interdisciplinary program. Students and teachers are given an opportunity to experience exciting cultural exchanges through shared music performances via a distance learning event, classroom curricula, teacher training workshops, and more.

Don’t miss the opportunity to share in the cross-cultural accomplishments of Turkish and American high school students, educators, and artists alike!

Every year, The Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall provides music education to some 115,000 people—from preschoolers to adults, from concertgoers to emerging professional musicians—in communities in the New York City metropolitan area, across the United States, and around the world. With an annual budget of nearly $8 million, the Institute aims to expand its reach to national and international audiences of all ages with web-based and distance-learning technologies.
