Musical Theatre at Carnegie Hall Join Carnegie Hall in supporting our initiatives to enrich the cultural vitality of New York by attending this special “one-night-only” concert. Show Boat (in concert) Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 8 PM Benefit Concert Following in the footsteps of previous landmark musical performances at Carnegie Hall such as South Pacific and Carousel, Show Boat creates a magical evening featuring the classic score performed by stars from across the worlds of Broadway, Hollywood, and opera. Show Boat concerns the lives, loves, and heartbreaks of three generations of show folk as their floating theater, the Cotton Blossom, plies the mighty Mississippi. The Orchestra of St. Luke’s will bring to life Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II’s richly descriptive score, featuring such classic songs as "Make Believe," "You Are Love," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," and "Ol' Man River." This concert of Show Boat marks the first time the musical has been heard in New York since its triumphant Broadway revival more than a decade ago. At Carnegie Hall this June, the Cotton Blossom will return in all her majestic, musical glory.
