Intern, Friends Membership

Carnegie Hall’s Development Department seeks a part-time paid intern (20 hours/week) to assist with the daily operations of the Friends membership team. A three-person team that oversees a membership program consisting of donors who give below $3,000, the Friends team is responsible for soliciting and stewarding members as well as administering the benefits they receive in exchange for their gifts.

The Friends Intern gains experience with all aspects of the membership process, from acknowledging gifts to assisting with membership events and answering the Friends phone line. They will also work with the team to conceive and produce our solicitation efforts, including our monthly appeals and three annual large-scale campaigns. Interns gain experience in various writing formats, face-to-face interactions with donors, and managing a team of volunteers that assist with our mailings. It is the goal of the department to give interns the knowledge and experience that would prepare them for entry-level fundraising position. 



The Friends Intern should be interested in pursuing a career in arts administration and should hold or be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.  The ideal candidate should have a strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Priority will be given to candidates who have exemplary computer skills, particularly knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products. Knowledge of fundraising databases, especially Tessitura, is preferred but not necessary.
